IATL celebrates creativity and innovation at Nová dráma/New Drama Festival 2025

This year, IATL is a main international partner of the Nová dráma/New Drama Festival, one of Europe’s major annual showcases of contemporary theatre, which will take place between the 12th and the 17th of May in the capital of Slovakia. Organized by the Theatre Institute in Bratislava and led by Vladislava Fekete, IATL Executive Board Member, the festival offers a selection of performances competing for its cherished Grand Prix, and cultivates global dialogue through valuable masterclasses and seminars.

IATL’s presence will unfold in a series of events highlighting the importance of nourishing creativity and innovation in theatre leadership, including a much-anticipated Conference on AI in Performing Arts, which will bring together artists and scientists interested in this very timely topic.

Over the years, the festival has hosted illustrious theatre personalities – from Hans-Thies Lehmann, the influential theoretician of postdramatic theatre, to Nobel Prize laureates Wole Soyinka and Jon Fosse. This year’s edition will include a Focus Georgia, and a celebration of renowned Irish playwright, Marina Carr.
