At the end of June, the Sibiu International Theatre Festival [FITS] reached its 31st Edition, with a spectacular programme that once again enchanted global audiences around this year’s theme – “Friendship”. The IATL is proud of its representatives who participated in central events of FITS.
Theodoros Terzopoulos on the Sibiu Walk of Fame
World-renowned Greek theatre director, leader of the Theatre Olympics and IATL Advisory Board Member, Theodoros Terzopoulos was awarded a star on the Sibiu Walk of Fame for his visionary creations and his unwavering contribution to the development of the performing arts, especially through his unique method dedicated to the acting practice. Through this recognition, Terzopoulos’s legacy is etched not just in the story of FITS, but also in the hearts of those who have experienced the magic of his work all over the world.
International Platform of Doctoral Research in the Fields of Performing Arts and Cultural Management
FITS included a new conference of the International Platform of Doctoral Research in the Fields of Performing Arts and Cultural Management at ”Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu. Coordinated since its inception by IATL President, Professor Octavian Saiu, this platform is supported by prestigious global partnerships and continues to cultivate academic and cultural excellence. This year’s theme, Visual Theatricality / Performative Visuality, gathered academics, professionals, researchers and students from more than 40 countries. Amongst them, our following members: Jorge Luis Cacheiro, Dean of the School of Drama, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts; Jarosław Fret, Director of The Grotowski Institute and IATL Executive Board Member; Cosmin Chivu, Director of the Actor’s Studio Programme, Pace University, New York; Pawit Mahasarinand, Professor, Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok and IATL Executive Board Member; Nicole Colin, Leader of the French-German Doctoral School, Aix-Marseille University; Geraldine Song, Programme Leader, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Robert Shaughnessy, Director of Research, Guildford School of Acting.
JTI Encounters – 25th Anniversary Conference
The first event of the IATL’s newest global project, Leadership in Action: Corporate Vision, Cultural Capital, was the JTI Encounters – 25th Anniversary Conference, organised in partnership with FITS. The guest speakers – Po-Cheng Tsai, Choreographer and Director of B.DANCE Company; Gigi Căciuleanu, Choreographer; and Gilda Lazăr, Corporate Affairs and Communications Director at JTI – engaged in an open dialogue on designing visionary cultural projects and key leadership values, which was opened by Professor Constantin Chiriac, President of FITS and IATL Advisory Board Member. In this context, the official website of JTI Encounters – www.intalnirilejti.com, an online platform carefully crafted by IATL, which showcases meaningful fragments of cultural memory – was officially launched.
