Legendary director, professor, and IATL Advisory Board Member, Theodoros Terzopoulos recently celebrated his 80th birthday, marking a lifetime dedicated to redefining the language of theatre. In 2025, his Attis Theatre, a living emblem of artistic endurance and cultural dialogue, reached its 40th anniversary – four decades since its founding during the 1st International Meeting on Ancient Drama in Delphi in 1985.

Following a triumphant international tour across Europe and Asia, Terzopoulos’s latest production, ”Oresteia” by Aeschylus, which epitomizes his profound exploration of ancient tragedy, returned to the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus to close the 70th Athens Epidaurus Festival. Moreover, the 17th and 18th Workshops on the Method of Theodoros Terzopoulos – ”The Return of Dionysus” gathered over 100 performers from around the world in Athens, continuing to share his seminal approach to acting and stage creation. All these milestones reflect a journey of discipline and inspiration, while Terzopoulos continues to shape the meaning of theatre as both an art form and a philosophy.
